about

A charismatic individual who thrives within a team environment. With a hard-working and broad interest base; I bring ideas, solutions and a creative outlook to all problems. I am a 25-year-old Scot who is a reliable, committed and hard-working person who works well under pressure and maintains a professional approach at all times, whilst most importantly keeping a smile on my face. Most recently achieving my masters in architecture 2019, my education within the University of Dundee was a tremendous experience, along with my first class honours I was honoured to receive 5 consecutive awards across the years which has to build the foundations for myself to now be working here in Hong Kong on a range of projects across China.

From a young age, architecture has been the driving force of my education, allowing me to build the correct curriculum at the high school and then advance that forwards to university where I enjoyed 5 years at the University of Dundee. Out with my education, I have held down an array of different jobs. My working career started off outdoors battling the capricious Scottish weather as a young paperboy, to then working in a call centre primarily to make extra money to fund the purchase of my materials required for my architecture work, followed by the more enjoyable bar work in New Zealand which allowed me to pursue many adventures around the world. Over this University term, I have been working with a University organisation in educating architecture and arts to local school kids which have been a rewarding process.

Between high school and university, I was fortunate to get the opportunity to express my ideas and work in a local award-winning architect’s office, Voigt Partnership, where I worked full-time every summer from 2013 to 2016. This also gave me a clear insight into how day-to-day architecture life worked. I followed this with working in another award-winning firm, LJRH, which has helped advance my knowledge and understanding of the working architecture life, leading me into working here in Hong Kong.

In my spare time, I enjoy sketching, playing the guitar, photography and (when our climate permits) playing sports;  golf, football and tennis. I love to explore and see new places; travelling to New Zealand, Bali, Vietnam, Georgia, Europe and just recently China, seeing first had a different world of towers and population density, kickstarting my masters unit on dealing with the mass population within an urban environment. On travelling I especially find the social aspect of these experiences most fulfilling; leaving the Voigt partnership in the summer I suggested a social get together amongst the staff which the directors loved and went on to fund the event as team building exercise. I coordinated the grand prix go karting event and a meal afterwards, all and all a very rewarding event for everybody.
